To strengthen our Engineering team in the field of protection technology, we are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer for Medium Voltage Switchgear. You will apply your technical skills across various phases of customer projects, ensuring that all commissioning activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, as well as cybersecurity guidelines and standards. You will also demonstrate your expertise by supporting the continuous improvement of project processes, product, and system design.

Tasks

  • Independent commissioning of medium voltage switchgear as well as protection and control systems, taking into account customer requirements, technical specifications, and applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Parameterization and configuration of ABB protection relays and RTUs, as well as execution and documentation of functional, protection, and secondary tests.
  • Analysis and diagnosis of technical faults in protection and automation systems, support in second-level support, and participation in on-call duty (piquet service).
  • Supporting sales and project management in technical reviews and in technical discussions with customers and partners.
  • Conducting customer training on the operation of protection relays.

Requirements

  • Technical foundation education and a completed degree in Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in commissioning or engineering of systems in the field of energy and protection technology.
  • Solid knowledge of software programming using FUPLA as well as communication protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus, and IEC 60870-5-104.
  • Strong focus on safe working practices and commitment to compliance with all relevant safety guidelines.
  • Independent, structured, and responsible working style, high self-motivation, openness to new topics, and willingness to continuously acquire new technologies.
  • Very good German and good English language skills. French is an advantage.
  • High willingness to travel (approx. 60–70%) within Switzerland, as well as willingness to take on on-call duties (approx. 7 times per year).
