Your tasks
- Lead testing activities for validation, qualification, and certification of solid state transformer (SST) components, sub-systems, and systems in R&D labs using prototypes and test units.
- Plan, implement, execute, analyze, and document SST tests, working closely with program managers, product architects, R&D engineers, and technicians.
- Define lab test processes, protocols, infrastructure, areas, and equipment for SST, collaborating with teams across different locations (CH, CZ, IT, US), including Lab Infrastructure and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) teams.
- Support productization and factory teams for SST production testing, including defining test specifications, training engineers, documenting test data and results, and adapting test protocols.
- Contribute to maintaining and developing expertise in power electronics testing, validation, and certification within the R&D team.
- Work on advanced R&D activities for ABB SST for Datacenter Products in a global and multicultural team of engineers and scientists.
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from a university or university of applied sciences in electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in power electronics testing, validation, qualification, and certification.
- Strong background and interest in practical R&D experimentation and testing in medium voltage and high power lab environments for new products and functionalities.
- Expertise in validating, productizing, and certifying solutions and components in medium voltage environments is desired.
- Knowledge of test systems, equipment, and infrastructure for power electronics testing, including safety, quality, reliability, and certification protocols.
- Self-organized, motivated, and interested in applied research and development; enjoy working in expert, international teams.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
