Your tasks
- Create new concepts to ensure electromagnetic compatibility and interference compliance in high-power converters
- Develop EMC models to predict and analyze electromagnetic compatibility and optimize circuit and system design
- Carry out EMC measurements of conducted and radiated emissions for converters and perform high-frequency characterization of components
- Patent innovative solutions and show technology leadership through high-impact publications
- Work closely with ABB research centers, business units, and universities to bring research into real-world applications
What you bring
- PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field with a focus on power electronics or electromagnetics
- Proven research excellence shown by high-impact publications and patents
- Strong technical skills in EMC/EMI theory and a solid background in electromagnetic modeling and field simulations
- Knowledge of power electronic converter topologies, filters, magnetics, and semiconductor switching devices
- Experience with simulation tools such as CST, COMSOL, ANSYS, SPICE circuit simulators (LTSpice, SIMetrix), and Simulink
- Hands-on laboratory skills in high-frequency electromagnetic measurements (conducted and/or radiated emissions), with a proactive and self-driven approach to designing, building, and testing EMC/EMI-compliant power converters
- Versatile skills to connect theory and practice across different technical areas
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial research environment and deliver results
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
