Tasks

  • Perform static and dynamic analyses as well as fatigue and damage tolerance analyses for cabin completion and modification projects.
  • Support the Team Leader Mechanical Design Engineering to develop working methods to ensure an efficient workflow.
  • Ensure correct consideration and application of Certification Basis, Rules and Regulations, Means of Compliance and Interpretations.
  • Ensure adequate communication and liaison internally, especially with the Engineering Team, as well as with external third parties.
  • Conduct static, dynamic and fatigue calculations of different installations (e.g. interior monuments, antennae installation, additional water tank) in airplanes using various methods (e.g. Finite-Element-Analysis and hand calculations).
  • Review and approve drawings and designs for stress aspects.
  • Work out repairs and modifications regarding stress.
  • Consult with mechanical design engineering to achieve light and cost-saving structure solutions.
  • Develop technical as well as safety and certification relevant documentation such as reports, analysis, and assessments.
  • Establish FEM models and Structural Substantiation Reports.
  • Develop and procure material testing.
  • Develop engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or relevant field.
  • Profound knowledge of fundamental physics, technical mechanics, thermodynamics, aerospace technology and materials.
  • Minimum 5 years structural substantiation experience.
  • Proactive behaviour with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additionally, French and/or German is advantageous.
  • Experienced FEM user (Femap).
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCad, CATIA, Solidworks).
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • VBA programming skills are advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Accurate and strong attention to detail and safety.
  • Ideally aerospace engineering background, alternatively automotive or transportation experience.
