The AO is a medically guided, not-for-profit organization, a global network of surgeons, and the world's leading education, innovation, and research organization specializing in the surgical treatment of trauma and musculoskeletal disorders. The AO’s educational events facilitate training and expertise across clinical specialties such as trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial, veterinary, and reconstructive surgery. Our regional Education Events teams are responsible for the planning, delivery, and on-site execution of all our educational events.

Tasks

  • Project manage and take ownership of assigned Educational Events in line with AO’s Global Education Process and Educational Guidelines in close collaboration with ES and course chairs.
  • Build and manage relationships with Chairperson and Faculty, supporting in the development of scientific programs, event details, and faculty invitation within the given timeline.
  • Identify and invite Faculty and Speakers in close collaboration with the Course Chairs.
  • Collaborate closely with DPS DRIs on event technical support, education grant, and voucher purchase.
  • Perform as an income/revenue expert by generating revenues through relationship/sales, liaise and instruct ES on available budget, and coordinate with Event Specialists.
  • Manage regional/local community campaigns, including booth and symposium management during congresses, congress presence, and acquisition of new members.
  • Develop local communities by engaging and building strong relationships with local Partners to embrace the local environment and understand local needs.
  • Acquire new members and develop trustful relationships on-site during the events, expanding AO communities to contribute to AO Education.
  • Identify need for collaboration with local agencies/suppliers.
  • Annual budget planning for the events in the assigned countries as part of AO's yearly budgeting cycle.
  • For exceptional cases only: Manage local AO governance, e.g., country councils organize.
  • Accountable for Country budget for assigned events.

Requirements

  • University Master or Bachelor degree in relevant field (e.g., hospitality, event management, public relations, communications, marketing) or higher education.
  • Proven record of professional experience in project work or event management (3-5 years).
  • Experience in medical events/course organization and managing local online social network.
  • Strong organizational, project, and event management skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to build and maintain relations with Health Care Professionals at all levels and broader stakeholders.
  • Good problem solving and strong analytical skills as well as proven ability to prioritize tasks.
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach, ability to collaborate well with others and work cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Effective leadership skills through consistent reliability and effective support.
  • Fluent written and verbal Chinese and English.
