To strengthen the Global IT department, Bachem is seeking a dedicated DevOps Platform Engineer (100%).
Tasks
- Build, automate and operate the Internal Developer Platform based on GitHub Enterprise and cloud infrastructure.
- Design and maintain infrastructure as code to provision environments, resources and guardrails in a repeatable, auditable way.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and reusable workflow templates in GitHub Actions, ensuring quality, security and compliance.
- Help scale the platform as adoption grows by improving reusable templates, guardrails and self-service capabilities.
- Keep the platform reliable, compliant and secure through monitoring, observability, incident response, patching and continuous improvement of operational practices.
- Implement platform governance and guardrails, including access management, policies, secrets handling and cost awareness.
- Facilitate discussions and drive alignment across stakeholder groups, translating requirements into shared platform capabilities.
- Partner with developers across a wide range of skill levels, coaching newcomers and enabling professional developers.
- Create documentation, guidelines and onboarding materials to make the platform easy to adopt for developers of every maturity level.
- Collaborate closely with the Platform Owner to translate the platform roadmap into technical solutions.
- Ensure platform reliability and security through monitoring, observability, and policy-driven governance.
Requirements
- Degree in IT or equivalent practical experience in a field related to DevOps or software engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience with DevOps or a closely related software engineering role.
- Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise, including GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines and repository governance.
- Solid experience automating infrastructure-as-code deployments (Terraform) via GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, targeting Azure and/or AWS.
- A product-oriented mindset and the drive to make developers more productive.
- A collaborative, service-oriented mindset that thrives in agile, iterative environments, measuring success by how productive and self-sufficient you help platform users become.
- Comfortable in an agile environment, delivering iteratively and self-organizing to keep steady progress.
- Nice to have: Experience with regulated / GxP environments.
- Fluent in English; German is a plus.
