Tasks
- Lead and coordinate technical activities within your dedicated field.
- Conduct and lead high complexity tasks without supervision.
- Support your engineering field during product development.
- Act as the local technical authority for metallic materials and surface treatments and serve as the first level of escalation.
- Proactively communicate and align cross-functionally with adjacent engineering fields and departments such as operations, quality, procurement, and other teams.
- Support processes and product continuous improvements to deliver in line with customer quality, cost, and demand.
- Propose market-oriented initiatives to improve existing products, technologies, and production processes.
- Write and review technical documentation, project-related deliverables, and other specifications related to your field of work (e.g. Test Plan).
- Adapt to product- and mission-specific requirements.
- Utilize project management techniques and tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
- Work package / Task Manager with technical, budget, and schedule responsibility for fulfilment of tasks assigned by projects.
- Participate in Non Conformance Review Board according to the NC process.
- Actively propose technical solutions in your field of activity.
- Carry out technical risk management and perform Root Cause Analysis.
- Be technically responsible in your field of work for the recruitment process.
- Identify and maintain key technical skills in your field within the department.
- Ensure standardization within your field of activity.
- Coach more junior engineers and external employees and review their work.
- Provide information on new products, processes, and technologies to the engineering directorates.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Material Science, Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
- Minimum 10 years’ technical experience in the field.
- Profound knowledge in metallic materials & processes, surface treatments, and adhesive bonding with associated special processes (e.g. NDI).
- Experience in qualification, certification, and validation of materials and processes.
- Additional expertise and knowledge in composites, in particular carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), and non-metallic materials.
- Leadership skills combined with excellent communication skills.
- Nice to have: Space or Aerospace experience.
- Nice to have: Knowledge of the space industry and market.
- Nice to have: Project Management Acumen.
- Nice to have: German (minimum B2).
