Tasks
- Responsibility for advancing our mobile apps (Digitec & Galaxus) with room for creative ideas to enhance the consistency of the mobile shopping experience
- Taking ownership of the entire app cycle, including continuously improving quality by addressing issues and planning and executing refactoring efforts
- Opportunity to cross-collaborate on our iOS, Web Frontend, and Backend platforms as interests and skills develop
- Shaping the agile process collectively within the team, focusing on small tasks with short iterations to maximize customer value
- Supporting less experienced engineers in their daily work and actively sharing knowledge
- Open, transparent, and clear communication, including providing and receiving constructive feedback
Requirements
- Completed degree (university / university of applied science / higher technical college) in computer science or equivalent relevant professional experience
- 3+ years in Android development with demonstrable Kotlin expertise
- Passion for Android app development, with expertise in Kotlin, Compose, Coroutines, MVVM, Hilt, and Gradle is highly valued
- Openness to working on an app that incorporates WebViews
- Curiosity and willingness to learn other technologies such as Swift (iOS), React (Web Frontend), and .NET (Backend) as part of cross-platform collaboration
- Familiarity with testing Android apps, including unit tests and UI tests
- Strong understanding of agile software development principles is beneficial
- Courage to take risks and act on convictions under uncertainty
- Willingness to challenge how things have always been done and propose more efficient, automated or effective solutions
- Either fluent German with English proficiency OR fluent English along with either existing German skills or a strong motivation to learn the language on the job with support from our education programs
