Join the Science and Research - Analytical Sciences group in Geneva, where you will be involved in all practical and organizational aspects of a research purification laboratory dedicated to delivering innovative pure substances from chemical synthesis and biotechnology research laboratories for olfactive evaluation by perfumers.

Tasks

  • Apply state-of-the-art purification methodologies to deliver substances from crude reaction mediums at milligram to gram scales, maximizing purity, recovery, and productivity while designing purification workflows.
  • Plan and execute purification experiments based on operational instructions provided by the laboratory head.
  • Independently interpret results and apply strong analytical thinking to solve complex purification challenges.
  • Deliver reliable samples on time.
  • Manage workflows and data tracking in LIMS and ELN systems in a high-throughput environment.
  • Identify technical issues and actively propose solutions.
  • With the direct support of the laboratory head, implement and apply automation solutions, including digital and data-driven purification workflows.
  • Proactively manage the maintenance and troubleshooting of the laboratory and instruments to ensure continuity of operations.

Requirements

  • Master in Organic or Analytical Chemistry with at least 3 years of professional experience in chemical purification, or CFC or Bachelor with at least 10 years' experience in a relevant domain.
  • Sound hands-on experience with separation techniques including related method development, both analytical and preparative (LC, SFC, GC, Flash, etc.), coupled with a broad range of detection systems for compounds with limited absorbance or no UV active.
  • Experience with evaporation instrumentation (Rotavap, freeze-drying, distillation, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of organic chemistry and the relation between molecular structure and purification strategy.
  • Theoretical background in separation science of small, volatile molecules (chromatography).
  • Digital savvy; experience in automation would be a plus.
  • Scientific rigor, strong problem solver attitude, and sound organizational skills are mandatory.
  • Creativity, open-mindedness, team spirit, and good communication skills are valued.
  • Fluent in French; working knowledge of English (oral and written) is required.
