The Department of Process Engineering (ENG) offers a master thesis or internship opportunity focused on modelling densified activated sludge in sequencing batch reactors (DAS-SBR).

Tasks

  • Develop a DAS-SBR model in Sumo to better represent key biological and physical processes observed in practice.
  • Calibrate and validate the model against real-world datasets.
  • Improve understanding of DAS-SBR systems and provide a reliable tool for process analysis, optimization, and future design.

Requirements

  • You must be enrolled in a university for the entire thesis/internship duration.
  • You have interests in advanced technologies for biological wastewater treatment and modelling biological processes.
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English.
  • You have strong data analysis and programming skills.
  • Experience with modelling in Sumo is highly recommended.
