Join a team that connects science and society to address climate extremes like heatwaves, floods, and droughts. Work with top Swiss research institutions to create solutions that help people and the environment. You will support and promote interdisciplinary work, helping to build a strong community focused on resilience and transformation.

Your tasks

  • Support and promote interdisciplinary work across different work packages, disciplines, and research teams.
  • Foster science integration and coordination within the NCCR CLIM+ consortium.
  • Help establish interdisciplinarity within the new CERESS Center.
  • Facilitate three types of boundary work: identify suitable boundary concepts (like extreme events, risks, resilience) and produce a joint glossary; support the development of a joint conceptual framework (boundary object) for societal transformation toward resilience; and set up integrative formats like meetings, training schools, workshops, retreats, and the Young Scholars Forum.
  • Work mainly at the Management Center of NCCR CLIM+ at the University of Bern, with a second workplace at Eawag in Dübendorf.
  • Integrate into the Inter- and Transdisciplinary Research Group at Eawag and build on their expertise in science integration.
  • Visit partner institutions and participate in different work package and team meetings and workshops.

What you bring

  • PhD in social sciences, human geography, interdisciplinary environmental sciences, science and technology studies, sustainability transformations, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in climate extremes, mitigation, and adaptation.
  • Experience working in large interdisciplinary consortia and developing/applying interdisciplinary concepts, methods, and tools.
  • Ability to work with different theories and enhance interdisciplinarity in theory and practice.
  • Good integrative skills, high social and emotional intelligence.
  • Fluent in English and at least one national language.
  • Familiarity with the Swiss academic landscape is an advantage.
