Join a six-month internship with the Soil Functions and Dynamics group in the Research Unit Forest and Soil Ecology. You help study the functions of forests and soils under global environmental change and support a project focused on risks from heavy metals to drinking water quality. The position starts on 1 July 2026 or by agreement.

Your tasks

  • Support field operations and analysis of soil samples
  • Visit forest field sites in southern Switzerland regularly
  • Collect porewater samples and analyze their nutrient and trace element concentrations
  • Help set up and run soil experiments in the lab
  • Contribute to evaluating results from field and lab work
  • Gain knowledge on various aspects of soil functioning based on your background and interests

What you bring

  • Recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental sciences or chemistry
  • Basic experience working in a laboratory
  • Ready for field work
  • Working proficiency in English or German
  • Able to learn quickly and work independently
