At the ETH Student Project House (SPH), we inspire and empower students to cultivate a mindset of makers and innovators by providing an ecosystem where they can explore ideas, develop projects, and gain hands-on experience. We support Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral students in pursuing extracurricular projects of various types and scales, offering comprehensive support through facilities, coaching, workshops, and an expert network. We are seeking an Innovation Catalyst to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover (5-6 months), with the possibility of extension.

Tasks

  • Coach early-stage projects from diverse backgrounds, helping teams reflect, ask insightful questions, and determine their next steps without taking on a leadership role.
  • Develop learning journeys and service offers to support students from start to finish, including conceptualizing, testing, building, documenting, running, improving, and scaling these offers.
  • Facilitate workshops (e.g. ideation, need-finding), moderate expert training (e.g. business models, patents), and host peer-to-peer events.
  • Lead key initiatives aligned with SPH's mission, including stakeholder management.
  • Share leadership and accountability within the Project Support team through collegial management.

Requirements

  • You have experience in starting and implementing your own projects (start-up, entrepreneurship project, innovation project, etc.).
  • You have failed, learned from it, and tried again.
  • You bring methodological skills valuable for coaching early-stage innovation projects (prototyping, agile development, design thinking, project management, product development, lean startup, business models, team dynamics, etc.).
  • You have strong facilitation and management skills and can ensure that services and processes are streamlined, clear, and scalable for 600+ project teams per year.
  • You enjoy working with people and are passionate about supporting them to grow their maker and innovator mindset.
  • You feel comfortable speaking in front of groups of students or important stakeholders and running workshops.
  • You have a master's degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized higher-level institution.
  • You have at least 3 years of work experience in the field of innovation, coaching, own startup, or similar.
  • Ideally, you have experience in engineering, expertise in sustainable product development, or subject matter expertise in areas such as AI, robotics, digital technologies, life sciences, or another field relevant to ETH students.

  • Public transport season tickets and car sharing.
  • A wide range of sports offered by the ASVZ.
