Software Engineer III, Merchant Shopping, Intelligence and Agents

The mission for Google Commerce is to be an essential part of the shopping journey for consumers, from inspiration to a simple and secure checkout experience, and the best place for retailers and merchants to connect with consumers. We support and partner with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, to give them the tools, technology, and scale to thrive in today’s digital world.

• Design, build, and deploy features for flagship conversational agents (e.g., BAA and BHAA) using Gemini models and Google’s Agent Development Kit (ADK).
• Implement robust backend tools and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) integrations (e.g., server platform, Spanner, F1) that allow agents to retrieve, aggregate, and reason over merchant performance metrics, inventory, and guidance cards.
• Implement automated evaluations, guardrails, and prompt engineering strategies to eliminate hallucinations and ensure high factual accuracy and helpfulness in agent responses.
• Connect conversational intelligence with Graphics Interchange Format's (GIF’s) reporting and guidance frameworks to deliver seamless interactions across Merchant Center and Business Home.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in Java/Kotlin or C++, ensuring agent workflows execute reliably and meet low-latency serving requirements for millions of merchants.
