The Test Environment and Data Specialist facilitates high quality software delivery in the CLM (Client Lifecycle Management) ART (Agile Release Train) by maintaining stable, compliant test environments and data. This role owns the full lifecycle of key systems (2 environments with synthetic test data and 3 environments with anonymised production data) and serves as the central contact for all operational matters on these test environments. Strong coordination and communication skills are required. Working closely with development, testing, operations, and external partners, this role keeps environments available, correctly configured, synchronised, and provisioned with synthetic or anonymised data. The role also enables Scrum Teams through self service guidelines, tooling, automation, and training to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality and compliance.

Tasks

  • Design, build, configure, monitor, and maintain test environments
  • Keep Confluence documentation complete and current, covering environment purpose, integrations, supported modules, data types, and access/entry criteria
  • Continuously monitor environment health, performance, and configuration drift; drive proactive remediation
  • Coordinate environment refreshes, patches, upgrades, and incident resolution in line with change control
  • Define and enforce standard operating procedures for test environment usage across the ART
  • Provide clear, regular updates on environment readiness to Scrum Teams and stakeholders
  • Own the full test data lifecycle: sourcing, preparation, provisioning, and retirement
  • Manage recurring data refresh cycles in collaboration with teams providing specialist functions such as data anonymization
  • Ensure data consistency across paired environments; detect and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain reusable, role‑based test personas and associated datasets with usage guidance
  • Ensure Scrum Teams’ test data and environment needs are fully supported
  • Define workflows enabling Scrum Teams to request and obtain test data efficiently, supported by a clear DoR and DoD
  • Publish expected lead times for common test data provisioning activities
  • Gather team feedback continuously to improve usability, speed, and relevance of self‑service data offerings
  • Troubleshoot and resolve access issues, permission errors, connectivity problems, and defects related to environments and test data
  • Support root‑cause analysis for environment or data‑related incidents
  • Act as escalation point for environment or data impediments impacting sprint progress
  • Partner with application teams and programs that rely on the CLM Test environments or on client-related test data
  • Maintain seamless integration and interoperability
  • Collaborate with CI/CD engineers to embed environment and data setups into automated release pipelines where applicable

Requirements

  • Proven experience in test environment management and test data lifecycle management within enterprise environments
  • Background as a Test Manager, Environment Manager, or Project Manager is highly advantageous
  • Background in handling client data issues within a regulated environment
  • Experience managing complex landscapes consisting of multiple environments with varying integrations and limitations
  • Proficiency in designing, building, monitoring, and maintaining test environments, including resolving configuration drift
  • Experience coordinating environment refreshes, data anonymisation cycles, and ensuring data consistency
  • Familiarity with scaled agile frameworks, specifically working with Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and supporting numerous Scrum Teams
  • A strong, authoritative coordinator who can enforce governance and standard operating procedures across a large user base
  • Proficiency with Confluence for maintaining comprehensive documentation
  • Experience collaborating with Corporate Identity (CI)/Corporate Design (CD) engineers to embed environment and data setups into automated release pipelines
  • Competence in troubleshooting access, connectivity, and defect issues, alongside driving root-cause analysis
  • Diligent and proactive problem-solver who anticipates challenges and works effectively across teams to resolve impediments
  • Strong communicator explaining technical topics clearly to stakeholders and external partners
  • Customer-focused with a strong sense of ownership, viewing Scrum Teams as customers and taking accountability for environment readiness
