Drive strategic partnerships and transactions within Roche Diagnostics, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to advance groundbreaking science and technology that transform patient lives worldwide. Tasks

  • Define external growth strategy by providing expertise and thought leadership to proactively generate strategic opportunities that contribute to Roche Diagnostics' strategy.
  • Co-create strategic partnering objectives and target product profiles with internal stakeholders in line with Roche Diagnostics' strategy.
  • Identify and prioritize external partnership options by maintaining strong internal and external networks.
  • Conduct systematic screens for suitable technologies, products, digital solutions, and companies in close collaboration with technology and business stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and prioritize external partnership options through strategic, financial, and feasibility assessments, with emphasis on business modeling.
  • Lead the preparation, structuring, and negotiation of new business partnership and transaction agreements, including Licensing, R&D, and Commercial Collaboration agreements, in collaboration with team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Work as a team with Group Business Development on M&A transactions.
  • Lead and provide best practice in planning and conducting Due Diligences for external partnership options.
  • Prepare objective, sound, and well-prepared recommendations regarding specific business partnerships for senior management and governance bodies.
  • Establish business relationships and ensure smooth hand-over to Partnering Alliances & Ecosystem Management chapter members following execution of partnerships or transactions.

Requirements

  • Hold an advanced degree in science, engineering, business, or a related field (ideally at PhD or MBA level).
  • Possess a solid understanding of the Diagnostics industry, including lifecycle processes, development, and global business development trends.
  • Experience or background in business or corporate development, strategy consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or a related field (strong plus).
  • Broad knowledge and ideally a track record in negotiating business partnerships and/or transactions (such as M&A, Licensing, R&D, and Commercial Collaboration agreements).
  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, and financial modeling.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with a track record of managing multiple high-performing cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Deep commitment to cross-functional collaboration and breaking down silos to achieve the best results for the organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities to distill complex problems and proposals into clear, succinct decision documents for management and governance bodies.
  • Growth mindset focused on continuous learning, coaching, and mentoring peers.
  • Proven ability to navigate a changing organization while maintaining objectivity, fairness, open communication, consensus-building skills, and respect for differences of opinion.
