Tasks

  • Lead a team of 1-3 lab technicians in a chemistry lab.
  • Develop and scale-up chemical reactions towards manufacturing, including preparation and support of pilot campaigns.
  • Maintain comprehensive process know-how for all assigned chemical steps.
  • Ensure required HSE standards and good laboratory practices are applied and respected.
  • Oversee and define the experimental program to deliver safe and sustainable chemical processes fit for the current development lifecycle stage under guidance of the project lead.
  • Design lab experiments and pilot campaigns to generate process understanding and know-how.
  • Maintain documentation to capture lab results and project requirements as defined by guidance.
  • Support process know-how transfers in agreement with the project lead.
  • Ensure close collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Support the department in specialist roles.
  • Prepare inputs for cost estimates.
  • Propose, support, and implement improvement projects.
  • Ensure efficient use of provided resources.

Requirements

  • PhD in organic chemistry or chemical engineering, typically with a Post Doc or equivalent experience.
  • Practical experience in organic chemistry.
  • Fluent English.
  • German and French advantageous.
  • Good communication skills coupled with the ability to see trends and simplify complex information.
  • Track record in working within project timelines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in the fields of data science, statistics, modelling, automation or process analytical techniques or in collaborating with experts in these fields.
  • Basic knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or R or a willingness to learn is advantageous.
