The Faculty of Psychology at the University of Basel is seeking to fill a professorship (associate or full) in clinical psychology and digital psychotherapy from the fall semester 2027, or by mutual agreement. The professorship is intended to open up access to an attractive and modern professional field for students and graduates.
Tasks
- Conduct outstanding research in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, with a particular focus on digital intervention approaches for children, adolescents, and/or adults.
- Research and develop innovative approaches to the use of digital technologies in psychotherapeutic care, such as smartphone-based applications, artificial intelligence, or virtual reality, in the context of psychotherapeutic procedures.
- Investigate the effectiveness, acceptance, and integration of digital approaches into the wider healthcare system.
- Establish an evidence-based foundation for modern, high-quality psychotherapy and contribute to the development of low-threshold, scalable, and personalized services.
- Encourage interdisciplinary links within the faculty and university.
- Contribute to raising the profile of the faculty's key research areas through research, publications, and acquisition of third-party funding.
- Offer eight semester hours of teaching per week in bachelor and master programs.
- Strengthen the undergraduate program in clinical psychology and the applied program in face-to-face and digital psychotherapy approaches through lectures, seminars, and supervision of student theses.
Requirements
- University degrees in psychology at master and PhD level are essential.
- Outstanding track record of international publications as first or last author.
- Successful research into digital intervention approaches within clinical psychology and psychotherapy.
- Proven track record as principal investigator in securing competitive third-party funding.
- Completed psychotherapy training (evidenced by Swiss accreditation and/or equivalent qualification) or well-advanced psychotherapy training in child and adolescent psychotherapy or adult psychotherapy.
- Successful teaching experience at bachelor and/or master level, including supervision of theses.
- Experience in supervising early career researchers, including independent and successful supervision of PhD projects.
- Proficiency in German language at least to C1 level is expected within two years of taking up the position.
- Willingness and qualification to play an active role and take on leadership responsibilities within academic self-governing bodies shortly after appointment.
- Ability to work cooperatively within the Faculty of Psychology and the University of Basel.
