Your tasks

  • Model protein-based fluorescent sensors using artificial intelligence algorithms
  • Clone, express, and purify proteins
  • Characterize proteins spectroscopically and structurally, including X-ray crystallography
  • Clone vectors for expression in mammalian cells for live-cell imaging experiments
  • Use state-of-the-art data analysis methods, including machine learning
  • Develop stable cell lines using genome editing techniques
  • Contribute to a large knock-out screening campaign
  • Participate in routine lab maintenance and group meetings
  • Engage in selected outreach activities
  • Assist in teaching lab courses and lectures
  • Write reports and papers, and prepare presentations for conferences

What you bring

  • Highly motivated with a strong background in molecular biology or biochemistry
  • Not suitable for candidates with only synthetic organic, inorganic or materials chemistry, engineering, or theoretical chemistry backgrounds without molecular biology, cell biology, or biochemistry experience
  • Strong interest in developing new technologies to visualize proteins and study redox biology
  • Experience in de novo protein design, directed evolution, redox biology, bioinformatics, or machine learning is an advantage
  • MSc degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or bioengineering
  • Proficiency in oral and written English
