The University of Zurich offers a PhD position in the Department of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany to study the evolution of human-plant interactions, with a special focus on Amazonia. The position starts on 1st of January 2027 and is for a period of four years.
Tasks
- Conduct lab work related to the evolution of human-plant interactions.
- Participate in fieldwork in collaboration with Amazonian communities.
- Perform bioinformatics analyses.
- Collaborate with an international network of academic and indigenous partners.
Requirements
- Master degree in any field of biology.
- Demonstrable skills in bioinformatics.
- Genuine interest in interdisciplinary research integrating ethnobotanical, metabolomic, and genomic data is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English, both orally and written, is essential.
- Proficiency in spoken Spanish to work with Amazonian collaborators is desirable.
- Highly motivated and creative.
