Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for assigned direct materials categories (elastomers), acting as a business partner to key stakeholders in business and operations. Sustain the Global Strategic Sourcing Operating Model and provide supply capability and capacity at best cost to support the company’s future business needs and protect brand value. Apply aligned sourcing processes, sustainable supplier assessments and development approaches, and actively manage a performing and regulatory compliant supply base footprint to enhance supply base performance on Quality, Delivery and Cost (QCD).
Tasks
- Manage own material categories, including capacity, knowledge management, and performance.
- Contribute to global Direct Material & Supply Base Performance (QCD).
- Represent own direct material categories within the VAT organization.
- Achieve category-specific objectives for cost optimization, supply base optimization, geographic sourcing footprint, and Best Cost Country Sourcing.
- Provide forward-looking guidance on trends, threats, and opportunities in own categories (e.g., raw materials).
- Actively contribute to the alignment of the Direct Materials Category Team with company objectives.
- Interface with Business Units and Engineering for Strategic Sourcing activities along the PDP (IP07) process.
- Act as a change agent with main stakeholders.
- Develop category sourcing strategies using defined methods and tools.
- Manage supplier relationships within the global supply base for own category, in alignment with category teams in Switzerland, Malaysia, and Romania.
- Ensure consistent application of all Sourcing Levers.
- Contribute to main Sourcing KPIs.
- Assemble and actively lead category-specific and cross-functional sourcing boards.
- Monitor and perform supply base risk assessments across own categories.
- Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement of direct material practices.
Requirements
- 3-4 years of in-depth strategic and operational sourcing experience with solid working knowledge of global category management.
- Demonstrated work experience with category-specific production techniques and processes.
- Knowledge of category sourcing markets.
- Proficiency in Office Software / IT applications (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience in sourcing in Eastern Europe, Asia, and Best Cost Country and spend relocation activities.
- Working experience within a global complex organization.
- Experience in machine building, vacuum technology, and semiconductors.
- Cross-function/category team management (minimum functional).
- Sensible and emphatic communication skills with suppliers, colleagues, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills (risk-based) and focus on essential facts.
- Able to get results through others, multi-task, prioritize, and handle stress levels.
- Good communication skills in German and English (any other language is a plus).
